Students from the EU/EEA countries staying for more than three months are required to apply for a residence permit from the Police Authorities. Students from EU/EEA countries who plan to stay in Norway for a period of less than three months and students from the other Nordic countries do not need a residence permit.
Exchange students from other institutions throughout the world need a visa and/or residence permit. Students are advised to contact the nearest Norwegian Embassy or Consulate general for information on procedures.
All students from EU/EEA countries need to bring a valid E111 certificate, obtainable in their own home countries, which entitles them to medical care under the Norwegian National Health Scheme. Expenses related to dental care and illnesses contracted before arrival in Norway are not covered. All foreign students from outside the EU must make their own insurance arrangements. It is the student's own responsibility to make insurance arrangements for any accident, illness, injury, loss or damage to persons or property resulting from, or in any way connected with, the study period in Norway.
