Emphasis is placed on each student's particular expression and individuality. Over the three years students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of themes, inspirations and styles. This will form the beginning of developing the individual student's artistic signature, which is based on professional theatre methods taught during the course of studies. The program provides students with the opportunity to explore actively a large number of theatrical forms through creative work. There is an emphasis on theatre as a collective art form in which the actor has a creative function. Through these activities, the students develop presentations and performances. Students are trained in acting techniques, word processing, movement, voice and music. Classes are also given in theatre theory and management. The teaching is arranged so that activities with the various topics are integrated with each other.
The program of theatre studies at HiNT is based on centuries of western and southern European theatre traditions and a broad international network.
This work will include actor training, improvisation, text communication, music, voice training, physical training, movement analysis, theatre theory and management.
This work is carried out through improvisation, text work, as well as differing physical and musical approaches. Styles are realistic theatre, tragedy, the world of the fool, comedy and clowning.
The third year class includes a 5-week excursion working with a professional theatre in a European country.
